Francisco Carlos Pedro, or "Chico," is someone who’s deeply passionate about helping people and making a positive difference. His work with Sancoffee, particularly through the Beyond Borders program, allows him to do just that. Here is his story.
What drives you as a person?
My personal goal is simple: to help people achieve their own dreams. The daily challenges and overcoming them are something I’m passionate about, and it’s a continuous journey.
What's your background?
In terms of education, I’ve worked hard to build a foundation that supports my role. I’m an agronomist, biologist, environmental engineer, and I hold a Master’s in Coffee Genetic Improvement. I’m also a Specialist in Sustainable Development and have an MBA in Coffee Business. This combination of knowledge allows me to guide the farmers I work with and support them in the best way possible.
What do you do at Sancoffee?
I work in one of Sancoffee’s Impact Programs, Beyond Borders. In this program, we support small producer families across 502 properties in the Campo das Vertentes region, which includes 30 municipalities.

What is impact for you?
It’s truly powerful to change people’s lives through trust-based relationships, guiding them toward opportunities that bring prosperity to their communities.
How do you like your coffee?
I’ve always been a coffee lover, especially in the morning. After my walk, I enjoy a double cup of coffee to get me going. Throughout the day, I stick to smaller doses of coffee, but it’s always got to be special.
What do you love most about your job?
What drives me in my work is the relationship and rural extension, helping families of coffee farmers produce the best coffee possible. Each new challenge is an opportunity to grow and take the Beyond Borders program to new heights.

What do you feel most excited about the future?
My goals for the future are clear—keep conquering new challenges and push the Beyond Borders program to new milestones. It’s about continuously working for the growth and prosperity of the families we support and the communities we’re a part of. And i'm very excited about that!
